My Blue Ridge Heaven!
"Life is Easy, when You're Up on the Mountain!"
Even before I can remember. . .up until now!
“The Poor Mountaineer” was born on August 23, 1955 in Beeville, Texas. An only child surprising his late in life parents, Harold has always been an “old soul”. His was a conservative home where Christian values ran deeply. This caused him to fear the belt in the pantry closet, the wrath of an angry God and disappointing anyone--especially his parents.
Spiritual gravitation drew him toward art, music, drama and all things creative. Gifted in music, by the age of 12, he was organist at his church. High school found him active in chorus, vocal ensemble, concert and marching band. Opportunity for acting also presented itself in high school, college and Community Theater.
Harold received his degree in music education with a vocal emphasis from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. For 15 years, after graduation, he and his family traveled the majority of the United States and abroad performing professionally as Gospel music concert and recording artists. They have four recordings to their credit.
Road weary, in the early nineties, Harold, his wife of 31 plus years and their daughter settled in the northern suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia where he spent another 15 years in mortgage banking. Just like George and Tammy, they “always wanted a big two story house”. The Farley family currently maintain their primary residence in Woodstock, Georgia.
In 2010, Harold has returned to his roots based in the arts with reviving his acting skills. Recently he worked on the set of Paramount Pictures remake of "FOOTLOOSE" starring Julianne Hough and Dennis Quaid scheduled for release in fall 2011. His current project has him on the set of Warner Brothers "JOYFUL NOISE" a Todd Graff musical starring Dolly Parton, Queen Latifah and Kris Kristofferson. The musical's projected release is January 2012.
Harold’s life long dream was to own a little piece of the mountains, just like Jed Clampett! That dream became a reality in 2006 when they found their Blue Ridge Mountain “Heaven” just outside East Ellijay, Georgia. Now,...until he “shoots up some crude (oil that is, black-gold, Texas Tea”), he is perfectly content and enjoying life as "The Poor Mountaineer!"
